Good morning all  My Paphos flight this morning was a bit of a debacle

Firearms - 4 of them plus ammo. The passengers turned up nice and early (as usual for Paphos) but unfortunately for the 3 passengers who were taking firearms, Customs hadn't opened. In the busiest single runway airport in the world. Hence they had to wait until they finally decided to turn up. This left only 15 minutes until the flight "closed" and there are quite a few forms that need to be completed for transporting firearms and ammo. I had sent all the other bags to the plane at 06:30 - the "closure time", but I still hadn't received the firearms and it was doubtful that the poor passengers would reach the plane on time as they still had to go through security and have a fair hike to the boarding gate. Eventually my two blokes returned from Customs with the guns/ammo at 06:50 and the plane was due to go at 07:10. I whisked them out and phoned the loaders to say they were on their way - but too late, they had already decided the passengers weren't going to make it and were starting the search for their other bags to offload from the plane. 5 minutes later they rang back to say that the passengers had made it so their other bags weren't offloaded, but the guns and ammo would have to be "rushed" on the next flight. A "Rush bag" is a bag that travels without the owner being on the flight. Big, big security around these, as obviously they would be an ideal way someone with bad intentions to get something dodgly on a plane without them being on it too.

I calmly pointed out to the loaders that firearms CANNOT be "rushed" under any circumstances and they would have to either accept the firearms and load them, or remove the passengers from the plane. They weren't aware of this 

All passengers, bags and firearms eventually departed - albeit 20 minutes late.
