Morning TMR...
Good morning BM, sir

I'm drinking beer and I need it. A cunticity of a morning. A bag has a loose strap and when the "tray" tipped it down the relevant chute, the strap snagged and that cause the bag to be dragged back up under the conveyor which promptly mashed the bag and caused the tray roller mount to disintegrate, which shut down the whole system. This was a 0410, just when it's getting really busy. Enginers arrived, said "fuck" a lot and disappeared to get tools. The Manager of Gatwick Baggage operations ("MBO") approached me and asked when my first bags were due out. "04.55" I said. "Fuck" he said, "this is going to take at least an hour to fix". Deep joy.
I won't bore you with the contingency procedures but suffice to say it involved my boys doing way more and above their usual hard graft.
So - to all passengers on the Small Planet Skiathos AND Volos (1 flight, 2 drop-offs), easyJet to Almeria, Athens, Thessoloniki, Valencia, Munich, Mahon, Berlin, Rome, Milan (Malpensa), Milan (Linate), Dubrovnik, Zurich, Heraklion and Copenhagen - the ONLY reason your bags are where you land is thanks to my boys and an awful lot of sweat.
Total number of bags that missed their planes = 0. (Apart from the one that caused the problem and got mashed to smithereeens).
I have recommended that all my boys get an extra bonus this month. The MBO came into the office just before I left and told the Supervisor he was stunned that no bags were missed and passed on his thanks to all concerned.
Job jobbed. And yes I do feel a bit smug - last time something like this happened, about 400 bags missed their flight
