nearly 15 years since I was reading Computer Weekly demolishing the Post office stance.  As someone who had responsibility for trusted system software it was obvious then they and ICL hadn't followed even the most basic of standards for such.

Those that lied should be in jail, those that had a responsibility to properly question those that lied and wilfully failed to do so should pay compensation and be barred from any responsible political or business role for life.
Well, whatever, nevermind

The Panorama programme about this last night was also most interesting / bloody infuriating. censored:

You just dont have much hope that they will pin the tail on the accountable donkey though with all the " I cannot recall" , " I was lied to" bullshit.

Just please not the "lessons learnt" mantra  cussing:

Must be absolutley infuriating for those impacted by this that for 20 odd years they fought this battle and it takes actors telling their stories to get any action on this !!!

This was also down to public fury that needed a response otherwise i am sure they would still be dragging their feet.

Although have to say was impressed by the consistent support of the MP Arthbutnot....he actually seemed to care and have principles  eeek:

I've been unable to find out what the software problem actually was. It intrigues me as a a good majority of the users appear to have had no trouble.   rubschin:

I've been unable to find out what the software problem actually was. It intrigues me as a a good majority of the users appear to have had no trouble.   rubschin:
There were multiple and Fujitsu have refused to declare their fault logs.  One that has been known is the screens could freeze while recording deposits and if the Postmaster pressed ENTER again the system would record a second or even multiple deposits that were never made.  Then there was the problem that the system was never designed to established standards for trusted software and it's doubted that the underpinning database software was fit for such a purpose.

And then it's known Fujitsu employees were able to go in and edit Postmasters records without their approval or knowledge to effect changes in accounts to suit the Post Office.

Well, whatever, nevermind

I have decided that the Lazenby Bond film is not as bad as I recall it being.
