Don't you get door delivery posties?  Or do they just fall down the drains so safer to use poste restante?

Theoretically we do.... ::)

For the first nine years we were here the postman delivered post around the village centre and chucked everything else in the bin!  lol:

So, if you lived outside of the village centre and wanted any post you had to have a PO Box... We still have one and I walk down to the village every day to collect the post.... apart from anything else it is good to see and be seen...

About a year ago they managed to sack (did you see what I did there?   razz:) the old postman and got the new boy in...

He does deliver the post all round the village so we had to get a post box fitted outside the house... the problem is that after so long with no post, 99% of the houses outside of the village centre don't have a post box so he spends hours riding around the village on his moped dumping letters and bills in gardens and on doorsteps where they simply blow away...

The consequence of the 'delivery' service is that he has much less time to spend sorting out all the post...  Also, he is never in the office when it is supposed to be open - like this morning! Banghead

On top of that, BA changed their flight times from Heathrow to Larnaca... This must mean they leave too late for the posty to put the mail on the plane so the post now has to go on a flight to Athens first... ::)

The consequence of all this is that I am still waiting for the heater matrix for MeMi and have no idea when it will actually get here...  Banghead

Must be a shit for full time working people but the idea of a daily walk in the sun sounds  :thumbsup:

I hope your post office is nearer and more accessible on foot than ours, life expectancy for walking on the pavementfree road to our village is measured in hours and for 1/3 of the year the weather is too shit.  Worse the last mile is seriously uphill.

Our postie just arrived with flowers for someone's imminent birthday, yesterday he arrived with live mealworms.  What a difference a day makes

Today we will be in Tunbridge Wells at a food festival
Well, whatever, nevermind

It is a 40 minute round trip at a brisk pace and seriously hilly!

I had just one car pass me (and stop to offer a lift) there and back today!
