I've had this update bug nightmare on my desktop PC.

This mornibng it wouldn't boot...

I tried the reccomended fix - it didn't.

I re-installed Windows 7 but it still had the same embedded problem.

I formatted the disc and re-installed - it won't recognise the activation key because it is an 'upgrade'

So, I'm currently re0-installing XP so I can immediately re-format the disc and install Windows 7

So... after spending all day installing XP then 7 then updates...

It needs to do a disc consistency check... changes some files and takes me back to the non-working state that I was in first thing this morning....
