Did your problems start at the same or after you upgraded M$ Media Player?

I had that problem, it was to do with digital rights management getting out of hand.

I solved it by deleting Media Player and setting Winamp as my default player.

Ok new card is in, I can now play the DVD's I've converted over to watch on my pda so I'm half way there. Now it just tells me that my resolution and colour settings are too high to play DVD's but lowering them still brings up the error message.  pcwhack:

I imagine your new card to be quite high end so either the memory is being withheld or diverted or a mechanism is in place denying the rescources needed.   It doesn't need much to play DVD's.  about 16k

What architecture do you have PCI-E or AGP?

Ok problwm solved although I'm buggered if I know why. I tried installing media player classic and now I can play DVD's on the other programs as well. As far as I know there arent any codec updates in the install. Having said that I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth.  happy088
