In Memory of "Friends" Departed
« on: March 20, 2008, 11:02:30 AM »
Famous people are dropping like flies at present. I for one cannot be bothered to start a new thread for each one.

Actor bloke.

It is a sign that we ourselves are not getting any younger. Those we grew up watching and admiring are all dropping off their perches. It comes as a surprise only because we see them still looking hale, hearty and young on the TV and in films. Who would , watching early Only Fools & Horses or Open All Hours, imagine that David Jason is really so old.

In Fools & Horses

In Open All Hours

And Now aged 68

I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

He is playing Rincewind the wizard in the Sky adaption of Pratchetts 'Colour of Magic' over easter. Sounds like major miscasting to me.  rubschin:

But I care not as since Branson fell out with Sky I cant get Sky 1.  point:

David Jason? .... Not that I am aware but he is on the TV a lot and the fact that this causes us to not notice the ageing process in Actors etc and that is why their deaths come as a surprise so often is what I was trying to demonstrate. According to this Mr Jason is alive and still earning. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/article888952.ece

Where will the next generation come from? I just don't see the likes of Gervais replacing these people.

Mr Wench's family do this. New Year's Eve you sit down and predict your Top Ten of the Dead for the coming year. You get extra points if you predict the death of someone under 35. Whoever has the least points by the following New Year's Eve buys the champagne for the night.
