There used to be one round the back of Epsom years ago too. An escaped loon ended up in my Mum's garden when she was little.

I used to live literally round the corner from the mental place!  eeek:

I used to live near there as well, a bit further north towards Sutton, by Ventor Road.
Always remember the strange hospitals/institutions over the other side of Banstead Downs as well.

They were known generally as "Banstead Loony Bin". I was it very often - my mum used to work there in the admissions department.

Most of the patients were of the "pleasantly confused" variety with only a handful ever of the more violent type.
