The Run Flat Tyres fiasco: episode 2
« on: Yesterday at 02:10:27 PM »
(Episode 1 was the run flat didn't run when punctured by a pothole and called out tyre company fitted wrong tyre)

Episode 2

For some time now her car has been making a scraping like noise from the front wheels at low speed.  Took the car in and the dealer blamed it on it being a hybrid so used regen braking instead of discs so rust on the discs - we fell for it.

Recently the noise has got worse and worse.  Wisdom on the web is it's the metal bracing in run flats has corroded.  So we took it to the dealer again and this time they say car is safe but something needs doing urgently - £295 to recharge the aicon.  FFS we said no.

They advise we change the front tyres as they 'only have 3.5mm left'  WHAT!!! that's 1/3 of life left.  And they want £730  evil:.

We took the car back but the noise is dreadful, those tyres have to go.  Booked online with Kwik Fit.  Bridgestones that apparently corrode for £600 or Goodyears that might not for £400 .

Turned up today to wait an hour to be told 'you've ordered the wrong tyres, they'd not run flats'   FWIW you cannot mix runflats and normal tyres on a vehicle, it's a real  noooo: .

So 2 hours plus of my life I will never get back plus have to go back tomorrow for the expensive Bridgestones (only runflats they do)  Banghead

Never buy a car with runflats.
Well, whatever, nevermind
