Wench, didn't know where to post this, so in view of your thread juggling to day, I will leave it up to you.

http://www.scalextric.com/50th-anniversary,41,SAR.html

Was surprised by this.

That it had actually been around for 50 years, didn't think it was that long.
I have a great affection for Scalextric and slot-car racing in general.

Me to. When I was a lad I used to build my own cars.

Nostalgia taking over I googled and found this site;

BRITISH SLOT CAR RACING ASSOCIATION

The chassis style has barely changed from when used to build them.

I started on Scalextric one xmas when I was about 10. Spent the whole day trying to get my dad and uncles to let me have a go.
In early teen years moved onto build them, my mate di the bodwork and painting, I did the mechanica and electrical side. We ended up building them for other people. Used to race at a club housed in the Scout Hall off Wallington High St.
There used to be a huge pay to have a go track down at brighton. must have been 10 or twelve lanes. Put money in and car would start, t-slot so could not come off the track, killed most of our efforts to have major crashes.

You will be buying Victory V's soon. Did I ever mention my amazing discovery in the North Wing?
