Had a 'critical' windows update yesterday which has buggered my computer up. Booting up normally end up with a working mouse and a black screen while booting up in safe mode shows is stopping at loading classpnp.sys before finally getting to a desktop.
Tried all the standard fixes (sfc, startup repair, restore point etc) and none of them work. After looking online it seems that this has been a fairly common problem in the past and having already tried the suggested fixes I need a windows disk to fix it. Went on to the Microsoft site to download a Windows 7 ISO to be told that my serial key is for a specific build by Dell and that I have to contact them. Dell have told me that because this is an old machine and is out of cover I can't get a disk.

A trip into town to buy a new copy of Windows beckons, the only bright side I can see to this is that I can get rid of all the Dell bloatware shite that this thing came with.
