Of course, the main talking point was this:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4175944.stmI was based in Myringain (sp) 15 miles away, and the river was like a boiling mass of angry extremely fast flowing debris.
Just managed to eascape the road from the airstrip back into town as the walls and embankment of this 'boiling' river were just beginning to be breached.

A truly scary sight.
Parts of Interlaken were quite badly effected, and whole swathes of rail lines were swept away, others left dangling in mid air. Sort of thing you only see on tv normally.

As a consequence, the airshow was cancelled, as they needed all the military they could muster to help clear up the mess.
Still, the Trift bridge experience was still to be experienced................

Landslides high up in the mountains had swept away all access to it, and it'll be closed for months apparently.

Still, the helleek opter ride beckoned.............

Thursday was the only cloudy day (bar Monday morning) of the week, and the booked flight had to be cancelled due to low cloud.
They rang in the afternoon to say that cloud was sufficiently high now, and the booking they had for the afternoon flight had 1 spare space available on it.
My Geeeeerman friend asked if I'd like to go instead of 'im like, but being the kind thoughtful generous geezer what I am,

i insisted he took it, lickle sweetie that I really am.
