Calls using the phone are chargeable. Calls made:
* by patients from the bedside are 10p/minute at all times
* to the patient's bedside by friend and family are charged at 39p/minute off-peak and 49p/minute at all other times.
The terms of the agreement under which Hospedia operates aims to reduce the financial burden on the patient by offsetting some of the cost of installing and operating the service through charges for incoming calls to the bedside. To any of us that have been in hospital recently or visited those in there we will be aware of this bedside console entertainment system , and the costs that the patient has to fork out for it's use.
Mum is in hospital again and having to use this to keep the boredom at bay.
My issue however is that once you activate the TV package it is then continuous from the point of activation and not dependant on how much you actually use it. Mum finds it difficult to understand and all she wants to do is to watch a bit of crap TV , she's not interested that she has free internet access with it ( as that is obviously the be all and end all to some

) , and we will use her mobile to contact her as we are not prepared to get ripped off for connection charges etc

I'm sure when you are first admitted , unless you know what op you are in for and approx length of stay etc, you just want to imagine you will be out of there as soon as possible. Yet to be penalised for under estimating in this pay structure seems wholly unfair.
Still they have a captive audience I guess
