Unbelievable excuse from the Police

Talk about teflon coated sloping shoulders. This is unbelievable:
Quote
A senior police officer told the inquest into the deaths of a family terrorised by a gang of youths that it was not the responsibility of police to tackle anti-social behaviour.

Well if a crime is reported, and that the reporting of criminal acts did occur is not disputed, how can the police say it is not their responsibility to deal with it? Of course it is. Tackling the causes of anti social behaviour and settling disputes about noisy neighbours may well fall to the local authority but this went far beyond that. Anyway, as any police officer will confirm, they have the ability to seek ASBOs and/or levy on the spot fines and various other powers that can be deployed.
