Encounter with a child prodigy
« on: March 30, 2009, 08:39:56 AM »
Was dragged to Scallypool yesterday where The Boy was playing in some concert. Jazz piano.

Loads of kids there and, tbh, heartwarming to see the most unlikely looking yoofs playing amazingly well.

At some point a little chap appeared. I remarked to Mrs Nick that he looked exactly like Ronnie Corbett. He did

He was 5 and was clutching a violin.

The audience clenched its collective teeth.

He began. He played jazz violin like effing Stephan Grappelli  eeek:. No sheet music. eeek: MOving around with the music. Extended jazz pieces. Staggering virtuosity Big smile on his face. Simply breathtaking. Frist time I have seen a 5 year old violinist do 2 encores and get a standing ovation.

WIlliam Stead. You heard it here first.

Astonishingly good!!
