Conway case 'reported to police'

Tory MP Derek Conway faces a possible police investigation after a Liberal Democrat candidate wrote to the Metropolitan Police.

Mr Conway, reprimanded by MPs on Monday for paying his younger son too much for working as his researcher, could also face more scrutiny over his elder son.

Sadly the troughers are all as bad as each other… 

Mr Conway paid Freddie Conway to work part time for him as a researcher while he was studying at Newcastle University - as well as receiving a salary of £11,773 a year, he was paid four one-off bonuses totalling just over £10,000.

Eleven grand for eighteen hours a week plus a ten grand bonus – just an everyday story of everyday folk eh?

Those still calling for a police investigation (I would ask "What law has he broken?"  .... even the police seem baffled as to why anyone should ask them to "look into the matter") should make sure that their affairs are as white as snow because this is going to roll on and on. The feeding frenzy that is our printed media have scented blood in the water.

Pressure for MP expenses overhaul 
 
Pressure is growing for a comprehensive overhaul of MPs' expenses after police said they could not investigate disgraced MP Derek Conway.

Mr Conway was reprimanded by Commons authorities for paying his student son nearly £40,000 to be a researcher.

Scotland Yard said a "lack of systems" for accounting for MPs' expenses meant it was ruling out an investigation.

I see the police have taken their normal ‘impartial’ approach to things? 

This man (and all the others) has clearly misappropriated taxpayer’s money. It needs a member of the (taxpaying) public to make a formal enquiry about it although they would no doubt decide to take an ill-prepared walk on Dartmoor or some such shortly after…
