happy100 Popcorn:

My step-mother's ..f88king go-gooder sister is excetor of will ....wants all debts cleared ..which can be/should/will be wiped out by
death ...
noooo:   they're a liability of the estate, you need to do some googling

Had legal advice ..they do NOT need to paid by law (unsecured loans )..but coz she has "purse strings" ..basically I am Fucked ... noooo:
Not the legal advice we got on 3 estates over the last few years and not what Citizen's advice are saying either.  We paid them (stuff like care home fees, electric bills)

These were/are credit cards ..both of theirs ..
A fair while ago some credit card companies used to write off the debt on death but I believe they all they got wise to the obvious abuses

Most solicitors will advise an executor to put a death notice in the Gazette because that way if anyone owed money turns up after the estate has been distributed they can be told tough luck.  Otherwise the executor has to personally pay off the debt.

I could give you heaps of links on this or you could Google but as long as there is money in the estate to pay any debts they have to be paid from the estate
Well, whatever, nevermind
