In all honesty it's not going to matter who becomes leader this time around, I can't see them being electable for at least the next couple of elections.  noooo:

A week is a long time in politics, 4 years is a lifetime.  Labour were supposed to be destroyed after that 1992 failure but what happened next was the Tories pressed the self destruct button and frankly they're not short of ones to press this time.
Well, whatever, nevermind

True but Labour would have to rebuild themselves from the ground up and have a convincing leadership candidate that will appeal to both the left and the moderates who felt betrayed by the Corbyn era. Whatever else we may say about Blair, in the early days he was able to sell himself as being the hope of the party and was able to make it electable again. John Smith would have been able to do the same before his tragic end but look at the available choices now and it's clear they don't have a clue in how to lead them out of the wilderness.

If Boris gets the economy or Brexit or the BBC wrong (and the worrying signs are already there) then even a left wing nutter like Long Bailey becomes electable

Voters are fickle, by 2024 we'll have had what most will see as 14 years of Tory rule, no party has made it to 19 in living memory which is what another Tory win would mean
Well, whatever, nevermind

Possibly, or we could see the rise of the smaller parties previously seen as being on the fringe. To be honest my biggest concern over Labour is that they end up with something similar to the Bloomberg situation happening with the Democrats at the moment as given their massively reduced resources they are potentially an easy target.
