I'm getting seriously hacked off with Royal Mail now    Every year I use their services less and less due to the increasing ease of transmitting all manner of files electronically. So, if my 'small' business is at all representative of the larger picture they've less and less to physically move around - should be easier, after all the costs keep going up 

But no,

Industrial Strike Action
Despite our best efforts, and those of ACAS, to resolve the current industrial dispute, the strike action continues. The current round of strikes, which are not on a National basis, but affect different parts of Royal Mail?s business on different days, is set to continue until 12 noon on Wednesday 8th August.

I don't know the details. I don't want to know the details! I put stamps on the package, hand it over to you... a contract exists... just feckin' deliver it 

This week is financially delicate; Inland Revenue want their slice of the action - done, suppliers need paying - done, bank reconciliation works out - just, because customers cheques are in the ...  post!

We have well-developed contingency plans designed to reduce the effect of the strike and keep disruption to our customers to a minimum.

Thwey missed the e mail boat. If they had had an ounce of sense they would have set up royalmail.co.uk about 10 years ago and made 95% of their work electronic. They didn't, so we all went elsewhere. All I get in the post are the odd bill, loads of shite about credit cards and an occasional cheque. Everything else I do by attachment or BACS transfer. Real mail always comes as a surprise. Even train tickets can now be printed off at stations. Air tickets? Insurance docs? Contracts? E mail!

It's only the junk that keeps them in business, and given the volume of calls and emails I get that won't last long.
