Very simple equation really, neatly summed up by Mr Micawber as
"Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen pounds nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery."Severn Trent profits tumble despite rise in revenues
Severn Trent said it was making good progress despite difficult market conditions
Severn Trent's profits have halved despite a rise in revenues, as the water firm faced a series of charges.
Half-year pre-tax profits at Severn, which serves eight million customers, have fallen from £208.2m to £101.1m.
Extra costs for restructuring and infrastructure spending held back profits, and Severn said trading conditions were challenging.
Rain falls, the water companies, who have a monopoly in their prescribed areas, collect this and sell it to us. Everyone needs water. Nobody can avoid paying for it.
How the fvck, given the weather and the amount of rain we have experienced over recent years, can "Trading Conditions" be difficult?
OK I accept they have expenses but those are more than covered by the ever increasing charges they levy on us for what is, in reality, Nature's Gift.
