He’s a twat.

Found on his kitchen floor on Monday by his cleaner. 999z
. Off to hospital in ambulance.

This morning he discharged himself against med advice and somehow got home. I went round. He was horizontal on kitchen floor. 999. Ambulance.

Ambulance crew ran tests and said he must go to hospital. He refused. They can’t make him. I had to leave. Medics were trying to arrange care. Went back and found him horizontal on bathroom floor.

They took him to hospital.

Wow! I would assume that he went straight to Resus, so I guess there was no ward bed available.

I'm afraid the NHS isn't fit for purpose anymore.  noooo:

Isn't resus part of A&E?

You don't get out of A&E until it's safe for the patient to do so, I'd guess that was the issue.

He just called me complaining that the hospital staff don’t know what they are doing. I told him to stay there and that he lucky to be alive and hung up on him. I’m furious with him.

I hate to say this but if Nod keeps on like this then it may only be a matter of time before someone starts raising concerns about whether or not he has the capacity to make treatment decisions and that is not a road he wants to end up going down. There is no formal limit to the number of times he can refuse treatment but if he is on a constant merry go round of collapse, get admitted to hospital, refuse treatment and self discharge (from the sounds of things AMA) then I can see it happening.
The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements. Energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.

His brother has PoA. We discussed just this earlier , but thanks we are on it. There may be a psychiatric evaluation. He is not rational.
