Is it so very wrong of me?
« on: May 06, 2007, 07:53:32 PM »
I'm sitting in the front room using my lap-top and listening to Sunday Half Hour on Radio 2. Nowt wrong with that I suppose but for some time now the visitors to the coast (A mere two miles from my kennel) have been streaming up the hill, heading for the A55 and home. They all arrived Thursday Evening (and half the night) with the stragglers coming in Friday morning. Friday was a pleasant day and yesterday was a glorious day. This morning didn't start too badly but after lunch the rain started and it has got decidedly colder as the afternoon has gone on. Now they've all packed up and gone despite the fact it is a Bank Holiday tomorrow. So the question that comes to my mind, particularly as I am listening to a "God Slot" programme, is this ..... Is it so un-Christian of me to sit here gloating that I can pop down to the beach anytime I want and they and their horrid kids have been rained off OR is it a perfectly normal reaction. If the former I must ask forgiveness and try to be a better person in future BUT if it is a normal reaction should I simply enjoy it?
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

I say enjoy?

I?ve never really understood the bank holiday pilgrimage to the traffic queue but if they are stupid enough to turn around and go back through it all again because of a few spots of rain then more fool them.

BTW are dogs allowed on the beach?

Despite the fact that it is a Bank Holiday and they have spent a fortune in time and money to be part of the herd vying for the 'traditional' Holiday seaside lemming run' most of these sorry excuses of humanity are going home early because their kids want them to.

They are not in the least interested in the expense laid out or the inconvenience caused, the sun ain't shining, and those with an attention span of minus three nanoseconds figure that they are missing valuable gaming time on the net.

The only reason they were there in the first place was the bribes and presents of game boys and iPod to ease the pain and - Well, because everyone else does it - don't they? It's fashionable! but "It's gotta be good else I'm outta here!" is the prevailing emotion.

Consider your peace god given and enjoy it.

You?re probably right.

The average eight year old probably gets more fun (and therefore causes less pain to its parents) playing their gameboy thingy on the car journey there and back than playing on the beach (even if the sun is shining).

I bet they don?t even ask ?are we there yet?? any more ? let alone play I-Spy and ?cricket? with pub signs.  noooo:
