Miss D can safely take that holiday

Seems her crack anti Marmite storm troopers spent the last week writing letters moaning about Marmite being advertised

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-23601215 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-23601215)

Quote
A TV advert in which a spoof rescue team saves "stricken" jars of Marmite from homes where they have been neglected has prompted 278 complaints.

Some 250 complaints were received by the Advertising Standards Authority in just 24 hours, following the advert's debut on Monday evening.

Those who objected found the advert "offensive" and "in poor taste", said a spokesman for the ASA.

Perhaps pedantic, but I doubt it is 'live' if it has been beheaded.

No, blowfish shashimi. Think of it as the seafood equivalent of Russian Roulette. You have to have 7 years of specialist training and a special license in order to be able to make as if you don't prepare the fish properly it can be lethal.

Couldn't tell you what it tasted like, all I can remember is the really strange feeling of my mouth going numb as I was eating it.

This is worth trying  cloud9:

Ingredients
 95g (1/2 cup) kalamata olives
85g (1/2 cup) Greek black mammoth olives
 85g (1/2 cup) almond-stuffed green olives
1 tablespoon finely chopped preserved lemon skin, flesh discarded

For the Harissa
4 fresh long red chillies, halved, deseeded
 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
 1 teaspoon salt
 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
 60ml (1/4 cup) olive oil

To make the harissa, place the chilli in a heatproof bowl. Cover with boiling water and set aside for 10 minutes to soak. Drain and coarsely chop the chilli. Combine the cumin and coriander in a frying pan over high heat and cook for 1 minute or until aromatic. Place the cumin and coriander in a mortar and gently pound with a pestle until crushed. Add the chilli, salt and garlic and pound until a smooth paste forms. Add the oil and stir until smooth.

Combine the olives, lemon and harissa in a large glass or ceramic bowl. Cover and place in fridge for 6 hours or overnight to develop the flavours. Arrange in serving bowls to serve.

This is best when prepared 2 days in advance and kept in an airtight container in the fridge  Thumbs:

But it's aubergines - it takes a lot of effort to come up with a vegetable even less palatable than turnips but evolution did it with the aubergine.

A BLT made with Quorn or TVP 'bacon' can be very good.  Not as good as the real thing I've no doubt but sodding aubergines?  Whoever thought of that either needs serious therapy or just happens to have a stack of aubergine futures to sell

I used to like airline food esp in the economy seats where they just give you the whole lot in one go as you can then start with pud and work backwards.  And Easyjet's pizzas were quite good even if you had to pay

But it's gone downhill a bit.

Jim Alexander, 41, has already collected nearly 50 fresh animal corpses from near his home in Torquay, Devon, where he butchers the meat. He and girlfriend Betina Bradshaw, 54, will serve their menu to their family and friends, which includes deer, pheasant, rabbits and even badgers.

Sounds like a car crash event in the making....  redface:
