Title: Annual insurance quotes war to commence
Post by: GROWLER on January 21, 2013, 01:46:40 PM
Poor MM. Had her new quote for an eye watering 2800! eeek:
It was 1325 last year, but thanks to her mother stuffing the car into the front of another one, the wumman/bitch of which is claiming for everything bar a new house, she's earned zero NCB.

Add in this shite EU ruling on this sex equality price ruling, and there you go, BASTARDS.

I'm about to ting Diamond and to ask them just how they've calculated this quote.

Average 1st year NCB is 10-20%. That's not going to happen, so price stays the sameish I'd have thought.
Average female price hike is 15%, so there's a 200ish increase.

So. How come it's gone up an unbelievable 1475, over doubling?
I'm about to enter the highly secretive and legalised thieving closed shop world of car insurance companies again.

Taxis/Buses and slim possibilty of a 49cc scooter now beckon, 'cus The Bank of Dad for paying for such crap has finally been closed for business, due to debts incurred for last years insurance policy still not having been paid for in full, in fact, not even half. evil:

Where did this incident take place?   rubschin:

The Mrs G one?

Morrisons petrol station forecourt, why?
2mph tap, and the wumman is claiming for a new bumper, grille, number plate, bonnet, headlight, and n/s wing, oh, ansd whiplash too. eeek:

Mrs G is a named driver on Miss G's own policy, but even though MM was 80 miles awy at the time, she's the one that seemingly is taking the rap here.

A 'phone call might clarify things. Shrugs:

Footman James will do a classic car policy on a Morris Minor (only) for her for a 'mere' 838!!

Her first reaction was a look of dismay and horror.
She now wants a 49 cc 'wasp', a vehicle with plenty of danger attached, and a probably HIGHLY resistant mother to contend with too.

I've suggested I go and find a suitable bus timetable and phone number list of local taxi services instead. That went down like a lead balloon.
I even offered to buy the Moggy for her to be paid back at zero rate intrest, but only whilst she's working. Shrugs:
Talk about deal of the century!
I also claimed that she'd be able to come with me in her Moggy to all the classic cars shows this year too!

She pulled her nose up at the suggestion, and rolled her eyes at that. Banghead

Talk about having your face slapped. ::)

Bollox to it. I've done my best and offered solutions, obviously not good enough ones for her ladyship though.
She needn't be asking for "FREE TAXI" during her employment back and forth at Chester Zoo this coming Easter and Summer though, 'cus the Dads Taxi service is also now closed for business .

Only a Moggy available on a classic car policy.

Anything else would be treated as any other car, and have to go on a standard car insurance policy.
25 is the age when all car classsic car insurance becomes available.

You wouldn't believe the restrictions and hoops you have to jump through for an insurance quote for a youngster.
Just been quoted 3800 on the car with another company that were initially confident of a lower quote than Diamond.
Yea, right. ::)

49cc wasp insurance is panning out at approx 500 snotters, but she'd have to take her CBT test first or summat. confused:

Bus beckons for the foreseeable future at the moment. whistle:

Moggy offer is still on the table, but hurry, as this fantastic offer will not last for too long...poppet.  noooo: evil:

Oh, and I believe you have to sit and listen to some alledged twat of an 'expert' rabbitin' on for hours about general H&S type shite things that no one listens to and takes on board anyway.

Rang MM's insurance again this morning, to see if I could find out exactly how much her premium had gone up by due to Mrs G's 'indiscretion' last November.

Oh no, they couldn't possibly do that. The computer sez no. ::)

However, the gerl did suggest, why don't I ring their 'new business' dept, and ask them for a new quote rather than a renewal from her.

Did this, and after the customary fifty thousand questions, she came back with a quote 700 cheaper than the renewal one! Shocked:
Would have been just over 300 cheaper again if it hadn't been for Mrs G's carelessness. Banghead

Moral of the story therfore is NEVER accept a renewal quote on any insurance. Go through the new business channel instead.

Still ain't going to be happening though mind you. evil:

I asked the gerly just HOW this huge price gap difference on the exact  same policy between 2 different depts. in the same building and company could be justified.

Basically she said.......... Shrugs:

She did agree with me however when I stated that I thiought it was outrageous and utterly bonkers. ::)

I've been offered a job driving a bus part time, but can I really be arsed spending 350 EVERY 5 years to sit and listen in a classrom for 5 days to some other twat prattlin' on about H&S issues and other such associated utter twoddle and shite?
This is what other PCV drivers have said it's like.
Pay up, do it, or don't drive. Simple as that. evil:

I KNOW how to drive a bastard bus ffs. Driven all over the UK and into Europe too, so I do think I have a 'rough' idea like. Banghead

When I used to sell cars ...did it as a private seller .....always used to say bought it for the missus and she didn't like it........got a call one day from a punter .......saying" your missus is one fussy bitch that's the 5th car this month"........... redface: redface:

 lol: lol: lol:

I remember the advice used to be when you were calling up about a car in the private ads to say "I'm calling about the car". If the guy said "which one" you knew he was a dealer....

Good tip..............but if you were clever each car was advertised with a different number.......... whistle:     (notebook needed)

Did the GF tell you that then...?  whistle:

Bus is ready .......he needs to sell the T-plate ............BM will explain........

All taxis and buses have a 'T' prefix on the number plate... sot it is a normal three-letter, three number plate with a T in front - TABC 123

T plates are as rare as rocking horse shite because it is like selling a business - father to son, that sort of thing....

But apc is talking shite because the guy could just re-register the bus and sell the T plate separately....  whistle:

We also have a Z prefix for rental cars (mostly tourists) so you know who to run off the road...  eveilgrin:

Time fast running out for MM now.
6 days to go before her licence will be deemed useless for the forseeable future.

Just tried 2 different so called 'low cost solutions' on line i.e, this black box technology load of crap.

1st one was 9k, and the 2nd one just over 6k. happy001 ::)

'Dads piggin' on 24 hour stanby free taxis Co. Ltd.' more like. Banghead

I'm still in favour of a Moggy Minor for her, and have even offerd to buy one, but she say's it's a waste of munny.
I say it's not, as it probably won't go down in value much, if at all, and possibly even up!
Be a sort of investment, ansd she can then fund her own insurance for a 'mere' ,cough> 800.

Tried a couple of 'recommended' companies on the blower this morning, and put Mrs G as the main driver, and MM as a named driver.
Basically this is known as fronting, and if you get caught you're in trouble, BUT THEY have made things so intolerably unbearable and unaffordable now, many many have simply had to to keep their kids mobile.

Anyway, thought I'd try it on to see just how much of a difference it would make. rubschin:

2000+ for MM as main driver with her current insurer went UP to over 4000 with her as a secondary driver with Mrs G as the main one!! eeek:
The others were just as bad.

Seems this is the method they are now using to stop 'fronting'.

FINALLy got insurance sorted for MM.

On the Moggy...presuming she likes it on Saturday and we actually drive it back....461 tpf&t, including breakdown cover and 100k of legal cover.
Now THAT is reasonable imho for a teenager.

What I can't get me 'ed 'round, is the fact that in reality, the Moggy is a vastly inferior car in the safety dept to a modern one, yet it's deemed to be a far lesser risk! eeek:
No ABS. No airbags, no crumple zones, no soft dashboard, no crash beams in the doors, no disc brakes, no dual circuit brakes, no hazard flashers, no hrw, no laminated screen.
Now I'm not saying the car is unsafe, but the risk of survival and injury in the event of a biggy is far far less than the N Cap rated veihicles of today.

Most of us in here survived with these old timers in the past however it seems, so can't be that bad in reality.
The key is for top class driver training, simple.

That quote seems to be pretty fair considering the original figures you were given. As long as she does not prang it not only will the premium come down but the car should retain its' value.

It's a 'classic car' policy, and they don't attract an annual ncb as such, but the premium does come down anyway in line with your age, until at 25 when it virtually bottoms out at around the 100 mark.
