Title: USB3
Post by: tel on July 20, 2011, 04:06:09 PM
Anybody used it yet?

Tried it out yesterday on the new Beast box - scanning a hard drive was about 6 times quicker.

It's the new superfast connection, backwardly compatible with 2 (1 is useless).

So external drives or SATA drives connected through USB3 are read/written to a helluva lot faster.
Spec is roughly 10 times fatsre as 2.

As far as I know the new SATA is very fast but is held back by the rest of the tech stuff, so it is only running on one leg. Shame, but should get fixed in the next year or so.
