I decided that I should buy a generator...
Ackchewlee I decided to buy one after the Japan earthquake and stock up on water, food etc. just in case a similar disaster struck us... we do after all live in an earthquake zone.
Anyhooo... needless to say that none of that happened and now I'm faced with long gaps in the power and being unable to do anything about it... Of course, all the generators walked out of the Cypriot shops on Monday so I've ordered one from the UK. This one...
Hyundai HY3000SEi Petrol Leisure Generator with Remote Start (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjVGhf7bfMk#)
So I place an order and it is shipped today...
BUT on the bottom of the order is the following detail...
We are currently updating our website and in particular the testimonials page. As an incentive we will send a free gift with any testimonials that we use:
E Mail testimonials will receive a gift worth £10.00
Video testimonials will receive a gift worth £25.00
Is it just me that thinks it is rather unusual to pay for testimonials...?
Having run my own business I KNOW how rare it is for people to thank you when you get things right while they are always quick to complain if anything goes even slightly wrong. As a result, I make a point of contacting people hat give me exceptional service or support and thanking them (not it has to be said our web host)...
But I'm not comfortable with paying for those comments... You are surely likely to get positive testimonials when it doesn't go wrong, not when the service is over-and-above what you might expect...

Does seem an easy way of building a stack of "Well Pleased" type testimonials.
I wouldn't trust them in future. noooo:

I am always asked to give feedback after something like a trade show and invariably there's an incentive but usually in the form of a lucky draw from those respondents. So yes, they're paying for feedback ultimately.
The Generator people's scheme is clumsy by comparison shrugs:
-
Are you sure it is a generator? That looks like a 'one cup tea bag' hanging from the handle.

Indeed... I just got this...
Dear Barman,
As a recent eBay user we would like to ask you for your help in improving the eBay shopping experience. We are working on making shopping on eBay simpler and better by improving how we structure and describe listings. Please help us by taking part in our survey, which focuses on Computing.
All participants who complete the survey can take part in a lottery draw for a chance to win a brand new Apple iPad or one of 5 PayPal Vouchers each worth £50.
I find that much more acceptable....

A testimonial doesn't have to be positive. . .
"They are a bunch of crooks and the generator is rubbish"
£10 please.
