Title: Slow lorries overtaking slightly slower lorries
Post by: Nick on June 22, 2011, 11:59:15 AM
This has happened a lot in the last few days on dual carriageways. Today on the A46 it happened again and I clocked it.

FOUR FOOKING MILES FOR MR TNT TO GET PAST MR M&S   cussing: cussing: cussing: cussing: cussing: cussing:

I want a grenade launcher added to my car  cussing: cussing:

The problem is the lorries have "Limiters" fitted, by law, and thus in theory they all have the same maximum speed. Of course this doesn't quite work and so Mr TNT thinks he can get an extra 1 or 2 MPH out of his vehicle and tries to overtake Mr M&S.
Mr M&S meanwhile is on a tight schedule and will not ease off his accelerator ~ ergo the time it takes one to over take the other is long and tedious for anyone trying to pass them both.
Best answer I have found is to pull off the road and take a coffee break.

I have called that at least a hundred times and never got anything other than "soothing assurances" that Driver X will be spoken to.

Whenever you get talking to an HGV driver they always come up with "We are professional drivers you know".

The simple answer that always shuts them up is " If you are so fffing professional you should know the limits of your vehicle and not try and overtake when it is quite clear that you are unable to....you all look like amateurs to the rest of us drivers"....they never seem to like being criticised about their driving  eveilgrin:

Indeed Baldy ~ they like to think of themselves as "Knights of the Road" ~ mainly I suspect because they all read The Sun or The Daily Mirror.
Personally I'd like to see the whole lot put back on the railways ~ solve road traffic and maintenance problems whilst returning much needed income to the railways in one simple move.

"We are professional drivers you know".

Also said by taxi drivers. And how often do you see them doing something stupid on the road.

Cyprus excluded obviously, thankfully these fcuknuts over here are having a tough time since the public bus services have been highly improved and prices reduced. A bus goes past every 5 or 10 minutes with 30 to 40 people on board while the taxis are empty.  eveilgrin:
