In 2003 I was sent a letter by The DWP (Disability and Carers Service) that says "You are entitled to Disability Living Allowance at the Higher Rate - mobility component for help with getting around from 20/01/2003 to indefinitely."
This came with a certificate enabling me to tax one vehicle per year free of charge.
Every time I tax a car the post office stamps the certificate and soon enough it was full (it only lasts 7 years) and then the PO kept it and a new one was sent through the post. This was last year.
Today I have tried to tax my car on line and they wanted me to type in the certificate number so I did. The request was refused because it was the wrong number so I phoned the DWP (Disability and Carers Service) and they said "Oh yes, we've changed the system. We'll send you a letter and you'll have to go to the Post Office with it ......."
So I asked, politely, why they hadn't bothered to tell me.
"Oh we haven't notified anyone ~ to save money"
