Title: Introductions you can do without
Post by: Nick on May 25, 2011, 02:36:36 PM
Ought to have posted this yesterday but was too knackered.

Big presentation by us, the new OUTSOURCED Marketing department to all college managers (46 0f them  eeek:). Prepared, scripted and rehearsed. 30 minutes with 15 minutes Q&A.

Boss man arrives to introduce us. OUr brief is to explain what we will do, how we will do it better than the old in-house Marketing department and how we will save the college squillions of ££££££££££££s.

Fair enuff.

He starts: "I want to introduce you to Mr Nick and also X. Y and Z. They are trailblazing our new outsourcing plan and will tell us how they will do the job better and cheaper. When this works out to be successful we will move on to other areas."
 scared2:

We were about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit after that, but had to press on with the script telling them how wonderful we are  noooo:

Not a good start  noooo:

46 college managers now consider you public enemy #1. You are doomed.

Regrettably it will now be in their interests, as they see it, to sabotage what we do  noooo:

You have been bought in to do a specific job due to the failure of the in house team to do it well or cost effectively.

You can't expect to be trusted , you can expect them to be professional though .

After al ultimately it will be their jobs on the line if they are not  noooo:

In the real world you are right but in the world of Education  noooo:

Best thing to do is to make sure those in a position to sabotage are "made aware"  ;) that they will be heading up the new outsourced departments as you will make sure they know where the buttons and levers are.
We used to get this a lot when companies, councils and Govt Departments started outsourcing their security needs and the Top Tip given above worked every time. Of course we never did give them contracts when the time came TUPE not withstanding.
