1,000ft tunnel constructed over more than five months
Prisoners took more than four-and-a-half hours to escape
They had obtained copies of cell keys ahead of breakout
Fleet of cars met them when they emerged from tunnel

"The most astonishing thing throughout the operation, as reported by mujahideen informants, was that all the enemy forces inside the prison, which includes foreign invaders, did not notice the results of the operation even four hours later and hence has not released any statements.
The freeing of so many hardened insurgents comes just before the summer "fighting season", and could potentially reverse some of the gains Nato made over the winter in intensified operations aimed at killing and capturing as many insurgents as possible.
You could almost make a film about this rubschin:

A fillum eh?

BM could wrap his head in a tea towel and do the motor bike stunts.

I see that someone is looking into it.

Nick could be the bungling prison guard.
JOM head of hole construction
DS - architect of hole
TMR - head of escape transportation
Baldy - inmate

Some comments on the story lol: lol: lol:
First, they crack through what, 10cm of concrete? Let's pretend it is old Soviet concrete from back when they were "crushing terrorism" or "fighting capitalist running dog lackeys" in Afghanistan and the concrete sucked so bad you could break it with a spoon and angry thoughts, so they get through that with no problem.
Now, after cracking through the concrete, you are digging down and out through hard-packed soil and rock for 360m if their press guy is to be believed.
Let's consider the volume of earth that had to be moved. Let's estimate the tunnel diameter at 0.75m
V = (pi)(radius squared)(length of tunnel)
V = (3.14159)(0.375m)^2(360m)
V = 160 cubic meters of earth
First off, what did they dig with?
Second, where did the concrete and 160 cubic meters of dirt go? That is over 200 metric tons of earth (using 1.3 metric tons - 1000kg - per cubic meter).
You think "some" of the guards might have been in on it? How about every freaking one of them. They all are buying their Pashtun boy toys new mascara with the bribe money right about now and planning that big getaway to hit the Kabul night life in a few weeks.

If it was a quantity surveyor estimating that, knock 20% off those figures ;)
