Title: Deaf Ear
Post by: Snoopy on March 24, 2011, 08:16:40 AM
I have long suffered from Tinnitus, which come and goes. After a prolonged bout I got myself referred to consultant and they did all sorts of tests and said my hearing was very good and the ringing in the ears was nothing to worry about. Since then I have not suffered from it at all (or maybe, having been reassured, I just stopped noticing it).
This morning I have woken with one ear completely deaf.

Very disconcerting!

 ;D

I had a problem with a strange sound or 'distortion' in one ear for years... went to specialists and everything but it eventually went away without ever discovering what it was....

Perhaps I imagined that...  rubschin:

I too have a ringing in my ear, caused no doubt by the planes. Thing is, I DO wear the ear defenders (many don't) so I'm not sure what else I can do.

You see what a lovely lot we are here Snoopy. On one of the rugby boards somebody started a similar thread

Quote
Anyone ever experienced this before? I woke on Wednesday morning and could not hear a thing in my right ear, and quite obviously it has panicked me.
I've never suffered from blocked ears or anything like that, but have suffered a few infections in that ear (though there is not much pain so I doubt its an infection)
I know I have to go to the doctors, but thought I'd throw it open here first!

Get them to check the DNA of any discharge, maybe someone tried to f**k some sense into you

On a serious note my friends husband suffers from constant tinnitus . It has got so bad he is going to see a specialist shortly ( and he doesn't do doctors  noooo: ) . But it is stopping him from sleeping almost every night . He is only getting an hour or 2 max  noooo:

Doesn't seem there is a lot they can do either and although he doesn't believe in taking medication it may be the only answer to help him sleep .
