I've been suffering more and more of these recently. They just suddenly come on and render me inoperative for anything between 5 and 30 minutes usually. No headache at all, just highly restricted vision with moving shimmering brightly coloured jagged shapes and a fuzzy 'ed.
More annoying than anything else, and a good excuse for a little lie down. ;) but I appreciate it needs sorting.
Trouble is that it comes on so quickly, that taking anything wouldn't have time to counteract it. Had an attack while havin' me cornflakes this morning. Ended up scooping the keys off the keyboard. ::)
Anyone else suffer, and recommendations please, cus it's startin' to get RIGHT on my tits now. eveilgrin:

See your Doctor ASAP!
It may be nothing other than stress or a reaction to medication ~ which could be quickly sorted BUT on the other hand it sounds very much like it might be serious. Only your doctor will be able to tell you

Thanks for those reassuring werds oh wise one. scared2:
I'll just have to visit the bog first. I feel a rumble coming on me belly now. whistle:
Some may find this hard to believe I know, but I'm, not actually on any medication.
-
eeek: I think perhaps you should be! Even I'm on two lots!
Migranes of that rapidity generally need a preventative measure. No idea what as mine are few and far between and I take something as they hit.
-
I agree that you should visit your GP just to confirm there's nothing serious.
It does sound like a visual migraine, I get them occasionally.
Mine start as small visual aberration in the centre of my vision which expands as a ring of zigzag flashing until it disappears at the edges of my visual field, takes about 10 minutes. Never any headache though.
The first time it happened when I was in my early twenties it was very scary but once I'd been told what it was I became relaxed about them.
I haven't had an attack for a couple of years now.
-
My mother suffered from terrible migraine attacks for most of her life. I strongly agree with the dog that you should get to see your doctor who can prescribe appropriate preventative medicines.
-
I agree, see a doctor without delay.
I suffered migraines for years but they where extremely painful, I am always very suspicious when there is no pain involved in any kind of condition as I see is as a way of making you stop what you are doing and pay attention.
I don't get any attacks any more, but still retain an acute sensitivity to light.
Considering what is going on in your life, I would imagine that it is stress caused, but you should be certain about that.

Just found this ~ Ocular Migraines (http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/ocular-migraine.htm)
It describes the condition perfectly.

THAT Uncle M, describes exactly what it is in my case, as do the piccies.
Only difference is the multi couloured effect i get which is quite spectacular if annoying.
Amazing, and quite reasurring too.....now my bowels have been emptied thanks Snoops. lol:

Whistle your post count up as high as you like Berk but aura symptoms without headache and increased frequency all point to something far more serious than migraine.
When to see a doctor
It is possible that migraine symptoms are caused by something more serious. See a doctor if you experience any of the symptoms below.
Aura symptoms without a headache.
A sudden change in the character of your migraine such as attacks coming more often, or treatment not working.

Do you know A.S.E., I'd really like to believe you.Honestly.
However recent pm's stating that you like to 'mock the afflicted' referring to me of course, do make me somewhat wary of your true intentions of concern. rubschin:
Giving you the benefit of my doubts, I'll thank you again and take the advice of Snoops and go and see the quack.
He'll no doubt tell me that there's a bug going 'round, to drink plenty of water, take paracetomol, and have lots and lots of rest, and to come back in a fortnight if I'm not dead.
Yea, right, ok. ::)

Bloke walks into a chippy with a salmon under his arm and says to the manager: "Do you sell fish cakes?"
Manager: "No"
Bloke: "That's a shame, it's his birthday"

Thanks JOM.

Haven't had one of these for ages tbh, but horrible when they arrive. Nearly go blind with them.
Should have taken me white stick with me today. ::)
I think UM described the actual name for the type I get earlier on in the thread somewhere. No pain though. Most weird.
Bowl full of fresh pineapple and close me eyes for five minutes at the top of 'me 'ill', and it vanished as fast as it came.
Wonder if I was stressed out having to listen to all the overly excited sprogs screaming and hollering whilst plodding up there tbh?
Had it on and off for 20 years now, so it can't be that serious can it ey? noooo:
More of an very annoying inconvienience than anything else imo
Feel free to move this thread into the medy center btw. It was started long after this thread iirc.
