Call me a picky geek but I don't want a laser weapon that will disorientate these scrotes, if we can't have one that will just leave some ash floating on the water then at the very least I want them permanently blinded so that they can't continue with their raids on shipping, bugger the UN rules they don't follow them.

There is a far simpler way to combat them anyway, remember the Q ship? I'm pretty sure that if a bunch of pirates in speedboats suddenly find out that the ship they were about to attack suddenly sprouted enough firepower to level a small city they would bugger off sharpish, if they don't then its Darwin at work. Give it a few months and the pirate attacks would drop off dramatically.

Amen to that... happy088

Seeing as we've just scrapped an aircraft carrier and the harriers we must have a decent amount of firepower going spare now. All we need is a container ship or passenger liner....

No bu- oh why do I bother...? noooo:

I'm a pragmatist BM, we aren't going to get the carrier of the harriers back short of scrapping Trident and there is no chance of that. Whipping up a couple of Q ships would at least put the spare hardware to good use. Hell temporarily giving an RFA transport vessel a makeover to look like a commercial freighter wouldnt take that much effort.

I did some work on them many years ago... I wouldn't trust them at sea at all... redface:

In that case turn then into remote controlled fireships. Hide a few tons of explosives throughout the hull and when the ship is 'captured' and taken to port.......boom.

Fuel tanker full to the brim with a few tons of concealed TNT. The boom would be almost Nickesque in proportions.... eveilgrin:
Bye Bye pirates.
