Title: Creatine kinase
Post by: tel on September 20, 2010, 05:43:55 PM
No, not a new girl band.

A blood test for me.
See if somebody can find out why I am losing sleep cos of painful bits, hips, knees and and ankles, now also jaw. Seems to be those parts which may be taking pressure when I am lying down.
Doc says it could be rheumatic, but is suspicious of the drugs I am on, especially when I told him how much I do at the gym.
If it is the above it is bloody nasty.
I will go for the test tomorrow am, before gym - apparently excercise increases the amount of CK in the blood - don't have to fast though.  ;D

The girl I work with had this test last week.  All the Medics she saw kept telling her was that the result was too high.  But none of them would say what she could do about it.

Will be interested to hear what your results come up with.  Her symptoms are pains in the legs, when she asked what did the result mean they said 'you have pains in your legs'?  rubschin:

In an an effort, kill or cure, to work out if lack of exercise is the cause of my pains, I have done 2 consecutive days at the gym and will attempt another visit tomorrow and again on Friday.
Today I have "walked" about 10 miles, some days I barely do 1.
I am sure that when I was working I was probably averaging 6 to 7 miles a day, walking to and from the office and then constantly moving around the office as problems etc arose.

How do other VPs compare?

According to the gizmo on my phone I average about 5 miles a day "walking".

Not sure how accurate the counter on my mobile is.
Walked to gym this morning and it reckoned it was 1.9 miles - more like 1.
Will have to use the step counter as a starting point and see if I can work out what way it is calculating distance.

Mine seems to be fairly accurate; I know the distance around the park, or did, and recall comparing it to the counter. The 'steps' function differs to the 'miles' function. From memory it's adjusted by entering your height.  rubschin:
