Title: Call me an old cynic
Post by: GROWLER on July 13, 2007, 08:01:37 AM
Why have I already found these two guilty? rubschin:

British girls in Ghana on cocaine charges 'set up'
-- ----------------------------------------------------

Two British teenage girls arrested in Ghana for allegedly carrying cocaine worth ?300,000 have claimed they were "set up" to carry the drugs back to England.

Speaking by telephone from prison in Accra, 16-year-old Yasemin Vatansever told Channel 4 News they were tricked into carrying drugs back to London.

She claimed: "There were basically two boys over here who gave us two bags, and told us to bring it (that) it was an empty bag. "

She continued: "The two boys gave us bags in Ghana to bring to London, to give to the boy in London."

"It was basically like a set up. They didn't tell us nothing, we didn't think nothing, cos basically we are innocent".

"We don't know nothing about this drugs and stuff, we don't know nothing."

You?re an old cynic!

Of course, you?d be delighted to bring an ?empty? bag back to the UK for somebody wouldn?t you ? no questions asked!

Yasemin

That was the critical word that should swing the evidence towards the prosecution.

Name please?

Errr, Yasmin basically like.......

Guilty.

WTF were two sixteen year old girls doing out in Ghana ....presumably on their own.... anyway?
Parents comments to follow at a press conference no doubt, god help us. ::)
Have Bono and Sting been placed on standby yet for a pending 'Free Yasmin and her mate' concert?

Where do they live please?
In true scouse tradition I'm obliged to take some Sainsburys garage forecourt flowers down and tie them to the washing machine that is currently undergoing vandalism in their front garden.

I'll set up a web site for you all to leave sincere messages of hope and sympathy if you like..like...basically.

?Where shall we go this year Yasemin, Ayia Napa again or Ghana??

You?re right, the only possible reason two 16 y/o could have for choosing Ghana is to smuggle back a suitcase full of drugs!  point:

The bit you all seem to be missing, is that they were nicked in Ghana for bringing drugs out of the country.

Obviously the 'two boys' story could be true, as no proper smuggler would risk his merchandise without 'insuring' it properly with the authorities.

It does happen you know, and you say I'M cynical.

 rubschin: No, I suggested that didn't I. ::)

Anyway p'raps the parents simply misheard them. Ghana does sound BASICALLY a bit like France...dunnit.

I think the sentence in Ghana is 10 years.

The fun will start when they arrive back 'home' empty handed and met by some nice guy asking where his investment has got to...

I'm sure they will all be friends and come to a happy conclusion.. cloud9:

I believe the 10 years to be a minimum term in Ghana. I think death may be preferable to a stretch in an African jail anyway.

Having just spent a week incarcerated in hospital (with all mod cons), I can?t imagine how crazy I would be if I was deprived of my liberty for much longer than that? The thought of being stuck in as foreign jail with minimal western facilities would certainly weigh on my mind when somebody asked me to courier their ?empty? suitcase for them?   scared2:

Looking at the story I'm pretty sure that they should have been able to tell that the laptop bags weren't empty. I can't exactly see ?300k worth of cocaine not weighing a noticeable amount.

At the very least curiosity would have lead anyone with half a brain to open the bag,

Guilty as charged, send them down.

The trouble with teenage girls is they believe that their charms will see them through all situations.

No wonder they are crying, they were caught, they won't get the money and they have just learned that humiliating lesson that they are not the centre of the universe.

I don't suppose the jail time will help either...

It makes me worry about how many do succeed though...

I would have to agree there Growler, in our local ghetto (about four miles away) there are several of these swankmobiles crusing about.

You'd think anyone that could afford them would be in bed at six on a Sunday morning, but no, there they are swanning around with their entourage of vans and corner scouts all bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Can it be that plod hasn't heard about it?   ::)

I have come across two that DO belong to drug dealers. One in a valet bay...regular customer apparently, presumably to hoover up all the white dust...wondered why the valeter was sniffin' the carpet. ::)
The other one was actually a Porsche Caeman, or whatever they're called, same thing but with a different badge.

Actually, in the aforementioned ghetto I have seen some Porsche (whatevers) that look very similar to the BMW photoed above.

I didn't take so much interest in it as to get the model name, but I can confirm that it does exist.    It looks exactly like what it is used for - Posing!  There is usually just one race driving - does that make me observant or racist?  And all the street girls wet themselves when they appear.

It makes me a tad displeased with a police force that walks straight past these tumors in order to put a ticket on some modest Cortina or somesuch.   evil:

Are the windows heavily tinted? Does he have a shaven head? Is his neck just simply part of his shoulders?

1 or all 3 of these answered yes, and I'm afraid the answer to your question is also yes.

Serious head on for a moment, are they not made of plastic, and do your feet not sweat and so slip about?  rubschin:

Those Blue things, dear barman, were not mules, nor were they "kitten" heels. Thsi is more the sort of thing I had in mind.

noooo:  Dear DS, I would love to be able to wear those, (the white mules,  scared2: not thoes blue pointy things) however like Bar Wench, I have a few problems, One knee, one calf and one ankle and just to be ornery, the other big toe, so I would not be able to walk in yours at all, I can just about manage "kitten" heals without a totter, which is most un-ladylike, and not  at all attractive. Heels like that I would have worn in my late teen and early 20's and I can just about remember "Back then", but if my memory gets any worse, I may not for much longer.  sad24:

Now look here Ms Galore, I have no idea what rumours you have heard about me, but I am not given to wearing womens shoes, or virtually any other items of womens clothing. evil:

My footwear of choice is made by Messrs Dunlop and would no doubt be described as 'calf length'. ::)
