Just had a phone call ~ My op has been advanced to May 11th. scared2:
June 25th was a nice long time away ~ May 11th is next freakin' Tuesday!
They are dispensing with the pre-op prep clinic planned for a week in advance and tell me a "Nurse Specialist" will phone to "talk me through it" later today ...... or possibly tomorrow. I know that some of the meds have to be stopped 5 days before the op but I don't know which ones until the NS rings.
This is more than slightly worrying ~ I get the feeling they are making it up as they go.
Apparently the reason for the sudden change of date is that the Welsh Health Board have issued new targets for patients on the waiting lists and unless they fit me in during the next week they will miss the target and be fined. ........ No ~ it makes no fvcking sense to me either. noooo:

We could share a bunch of grapes at my bedside.

Which horsepickle? I could bring fireworks
-
Stuck in horsepickle , surrounded by nurses, away from THW, and with Nick coming to visit you. ... you've never had it so good ;)
-
They tell me at most I'll be in overnight ~ if I survive.
Apparently the "procedure" is done under local anaesthetic and if all goes well home within 12 hours with orders to rest for two weeks and not drive for four weeks.
Look it up for yourself google Ablation Therapy.
I just don't fancy it at all ~ I am told by local nurse specialist that the procedure is "uncomfortable" ..... which in my experience translates as bloody painful and unpleasant.

How long will you be in for? Ooooops , just checked the thread. Sorry

There was a report on Today this morning of a surgeon who was offering a "Watch a DVD whilst we operate" service ;D Any requests?

Yes, all the best Snoopy.
Remember, that twitchy feeling you'll get in the groin during the op is the local wearing off and not caused by the fit nurse walking past.

All the best for tomorrow. angel1

A day's sick leave and look at the mess in here.
Piles of sweaty lycra in the Ladies
Turnip juice all over the carpets
Apostrophes not put away
Growler's me'ill not brushed
Nick playing in the West Country
Bloody liberals taking over the Government
I can't turn my back for a minute! noooo:
Thanks all for your good wishes. I am home with orders to stay in bed today to let the operation site settle and the drugs to wear off. I feel like shite but the procedure was rated a success by the two doctors what done it .... but then they would say that wouldn't they? We shall see! Three and a half hours it took. If it has worked I shall be pleased but it is not an experience I would recommend. There are better ways of spending a day.

Shall I tear up your application form then Miss D? point:
Welcome back Snoops and a speedy recovery...
-
Glad to hear all went well. happy088
As to letting the op site to settle, after one of my many catheterisations I was recuperating in hospital and needed the toilet. I buzzed for a nurse but none came so I thought "sod it, I get out of bed and go" Big mistake. No sooner than I had relieved myself when incision opened up. Blood everywhere! The nurse gave me a bollocking (literally!)
So, stay in bed and let others doing all the running about.
-
Indeed Uncle ~ this is my 5th catheterisation but the first where they have gone in via veins rather than artery. 4 catheters on the go simultaneously eeek:
Not so much an incision .... more a JOM stylee trench
The actual ablations (25 of them) were uncomfortable but the testing by forcing the heart to speed up and slow down to order (30+times I lost count) was most unpleasant.
Today I feel as if I have gone 5 rounds with Henry Cooper.
-
Look on the bright side ~ it could have been Muhammad Ali.

Welcome back Snoopy, don't wag the tail too hard.
