Title: Bloody PC!
Post by: tel on February 22, 2010, 05:19:50 PM
About 18 months ago I said that my dad could have my old PC. He agreed and I put him on broadband.
He then showed no interest whatsoever in taking the PC. I was just about to cancel the broadband when he suddenly asked if he can have the PC.
OK, says I.
The bloody thing won't now connect to the interweb for updates!
No matter what I do with addresses etc ir refuses to co-operate - so now it has been trashed and rebuild is in progress - XP  cloud9:

I've been there!

You can spend the rest of your life working through the suggestions on the Micro$ite site too - a rebuild is the only way out of it IMHO...

Or upgrade to an analogue system of course....  ::)

After the re-build, I then remember that this problem is caused by the cable modem/DHCP.
Power cycled modem and old PC connected ok.

God, I only did this a few months ago wirh a re-build of someone's PC and I've already forgotten - brain's going!
