Just had a call from the hospital ~ 10th March scared2:
-
You'll be fine Uncle...
Keep reading this site - you won't split your stitches laughing that's for sure... ;)
-
You are bound to be a bit worried Uncle happy100
Would it worry you even more if we said we will visit with flowers and chocolates scared2:
Make sure you are fully fit before even considering going back to work tho nonono:
-
HOw long will you be in for?
-
About a week or so in hospital, then for the first week at home I'm not allowed to do anything ~ my brother's moving in to wait on me hand and foot happy088
Then up to six weeks convalesce.
Not even allowed to drive eeek:
-
Best of luck old chap; I'm sure it'll go fine.

We shall come to visit. Miss D can organise the charabanc. I shall bring fireworks razz:
-
I have a pre-admission appointment next week, I shall ask the surgeon if such a visit is advisable. ;)
-
Don't tell them where you live Uncle... noooo:
-
Good luck UM.
Remember, the fear is in the anticipation, not the action.
They do stuff like this every day and it hardly ever gets in the news. ;)
-
Yes, my BIL is a hospital doctor and it's all routine to him. Mind you, the stories he tells about goings on and cock ups in operating theatres would make your hair curl (BM excepted obviously)
-
eeek:
-
eeek:
I should video the whole event Uncle... just in case like.... scared2:
-
Don't worry Uncle. I will tell you all about his stories after you are home. In any case he only works on Liverpudlian brains, so he can't do much harm

::)
-
Hope the op. goes ok for you.
-
Right, back from the pre-op appointment and have signed the consent form.
Surgeon: "I have to tell you there's a 5-10% of..."
waits for me to say "death?" eeek:
Actually it's the chances of something going wrong up to and including the clog popping option.
Let's hope he knows what he's doing scared2:
-
I'm sure you'll be fine.
I once had a conversation with a cardiologist about angiograms ~ where they go in to the groin and pass a catheter through the main artery all the way to the heart and then take pictures or carry out other procedures such as stenting/angioplasty etc.
He told me that one in three has a "complication" .... he was about to perform the fourth one I underwent eeek:
We discussed, as he carried out the op, the fact that like tossing a coin the odds return to zero each time.
-
I sure I'll be fine as well.
After all the discussions about the procedure and the recovery and a visit to the ITU ward it brought back memories of my previous op.
As I walked out of the hospital I felt oddly detached from reality. The feeling has only just gone.

Might get time off for good behaviour athough Svetlana gave me a nice smile this morning so I live in hope.Of course I've been there, done that with the ex who was one of the nurses at Bart's back when I was there 1990/91. Will we ever learn?

Now he will start over doing it, has no doubt been absailing or somesuch today.
Take it easy Uncle. Why oh why do I think that will fall on deaf ears? noooo:
-
happy088 Unc.
-
You're all correct of course, I just cannot sit around doing nothing. Probably did more than I should yesterday causing tonight's "discomfort"
I've got 6 weeks until my "discharge" appointment and feel trapped after one day, I'll be climbing the walls before Easter.

Bad day yesterday, lots of pain.
Doing absolutely nothing is bloody difficult.
-
Bloody GP surgerys!
Ring at 8 am to get an appointment for today (if possible) Ten minutes of engaged tone and redial I finally get through, no my GP hasn't any slots today, best is 30th March. All I want to do his talk to him and catch up the results of other tests I'd been having pre-op. So I leave message for him to phone me.
He just has, obviously feels there is some sense of 'importance' in talkinng to me which is imposible to impart to the receptionist. Anyway I guess I've had my 'consultation' now. When can I book a actual visit? Turns out the 30th slot already gone, and now has to be after Easter. (!)
I'm sick and tired of never getting a reasonable appointment date. Banghead
-
Right, just had the receptionist phone back. Apology and an appointment for next Wednesday morning (choice of time slots) Where did they come from? rubschin:
-
Maybe TG had a word in his shell like ;)
Hope today is a better day Uncle , not too much discomfort.

I'm not dead!
It was good of Nick to call and I appreciate your concerns. Convalescence is somewhat slower than I hoped and I've not been the best of company (ask my brother!) so I've not really been in mood to do anything. Last Friday I spent the day at A&E after a couple of mahoosive nosebleeds, consequence of thinner blood than usual.
In the last couple of the days the pain has eased considerably although my sleep is still disturbed (4 hours last night)
I'm hopeful that I'm over the worst.

cloud9:
I still don't know what dick deleted my report cussing:

Those blood drugs are horrible, gums bled every time I cleaned my teeth, murder having a shave and then the bruises that appear from nowhere.
Still, you're worth it UM.
