But if thousands of potential university students are going to be denied places due to a lack of funding then good. The university system has long been used as a cheat on unemployment figures leading to courses that have no practical use whatsoever just to make up the numbers. And where does that get us? More funding from the government leading to higher taxes. You may disagree with me but if it means that degrees in subjects such as science fiction and golf course management go the way of the dodo then it can only be a good thing.

Agreed...
Courses should be available based on need (of the employers). Nobody needs anybody with a degree in Victoria Beckam? Pay for it yourself.
I read somewhere that there are thousands of students studying forensic science (cos it has been on the telly like). More in fact than the industry actually needs for hundreds of years... what a complete waste of taxpayer's money...

Same in my business. It's now a degree level subject. I doubt if 10% of the graduates will get a job in the business. And those that do will work for peanuts.
