I am in pain.
Last Thursday, gave my back a little tweak, but everything seemed fine on Friday.
Saturday, cleared a load of leaves and stuff from next doors garden, no problem.
Sunday - pain - bad back pain. (Popped a disc many years ago).
Slept ok, hot water bottle stuffed against lower back.
This morning, could just about get out of bed and stand up.
Not a happy bunny.
-
Oh Dear happy100
-
Poor you .... happy100
Not many instant cures that I know of for back pain either....
not that I have any instant cures for anything else either really rubschin:
Very helpful aren't I noooo:
Just be good to yourself

Bad luck Tel. happy100
I have been there and it isn't nice.
Bad back I mean, not in your bed of course. redface:
-
It's the first time in years that it's been this bad. Usually it's ok after a few hours or a nights sleep, but not this time so I know it's bad.
Can only take paracetemol, which is no help really.
The advice used to be to rest up stay in bed etc, but these days you are told to stay mobile which is all well and good, but you don't feel great when you walk around looking like Max Wall with a bad case of piles.

It would take an awful lot of them to numb the pain.
Whilst I say it is back pain, it is caused by a disc in my lower spine and the pain extends down into my legs though not both legs at once thank god.
-
I suspect you've trapped your sciatic nerve; I had the same many years ago and could barely walk. I believe the answer is mild, gentle exercise unless you literally can't move.
A friend of mine had it very badly and unlike many years ago when they were not keen to operate, he had an op. Ironically it was at the place you came for an interview last week ~ not the dental wing, obviously ;)
He was better very soon.

I'll be able to join in this thread soon... we're about to move some wardrobes and beds... noooo:

May we have a big round of applause for young Tel who, despite walking like a broken doll, still turned up for a couple of pints. Fortitude, fine effort. happ096

I warned you... don't try and do it all in one day I said.... whistle:
-
I know but I just wanted it done cry:
I had to carry out all the old stuff for the Council to colect today as well and I think that just about finished me off last night noooo:
-
You need a hot bath, an all over massage and a couple of glasses of wine
-
Think I should probably have some breakfast first before the wine ;D
But the massage and hot bath would be gorgeous... hot bath it is then cry:
-
I would love to have a long soak in a hot bath. My worry is that, even if I managed to get in it, I wouldn't be able to get out.
Back was a lot better last night, walking must have helped, but sleeping has not helped. pain in legs has gone, but back and hips are painful.
Struggled to put my socks on this morning.
-
Well yesterday was kill or cure time.
Did 45 minute session at the gym. Didn't collapse or anything but did have a few twinges.
Slept ok and felt better this morning.
Worried about stiffening up again this morning though.

What makes you think this bad back is going to take some time to cure whistle:
It has returned, sort of.
Last 2 weeks, have had pain in hip and legs. Really difficult to sleep.
Saw GP on Friday and am now on painkillers. Could be problem with my hip or sciatica.
Anyways, painkillers and Youngs do mix that well - got a bit drowsy last night and that was after only 2 pints.
Pain still there though.
-
Oh sorry to hear that Tel happy100...at least it might save some pennies if you can't drink much

I know a nice lady chiropractor eyes:
-
I know a nice lady chiropractor eyes:
Not keen on them.
A friend of mine was treated by one for 10 years - she had back pain apparently caused by being quite short, having small feet and being rather well endowed.
Turned out she had arthritis, and ended up having her hip replaced - she was only in her mid-forties, so they were very reluctant to do the op, as the new hip bit only lasts 20 years and that meant she will have to have it done again.
-
Perhaps she ought to have had liposuction rubschin:
-
Suction is not a word I would use when she is nearby.

Well, you would certainly be dribbling.
-
I am in agony.
Ended up sleeping on sofa last night.
Will now attempt a session at the gym, kill or cure again, assuming I can make it there.
I may be gone a while.

Don't go to the gym - I am in agony today because of it cry:

That would be your "session" with Rock Hard Rod eyes:
-
Well 40 minutes on the treadmill and then some weights. Basically I seem to have moved the pain around, now in my back instead of my leg.
Feel better after 2 bacon rolls and some more painkillers.
-
I was on codeibne last year noooo:
The agony of back pain and sciatica is werse than anyone can imagine till they have had it. It just goes on and on noooo:
Have you tried a bag of frozen peas tucked inside your kecks(serious)
-
I don't find that ice works too well for me, heat is better.
And yes, the pain is awful, and unrelenting.
I suspect that this is sciatica or pressure on the nerves caused by my prolapsed disc (did that many moons ago).
Whereas the treatment used to be loads of painkillers, valium and rest, it is now accepted that you should exercise as much as possible.
Am taking Co-dydramol (basically strong paracetomol) at present, not allowed anti-inflammatory cos of heart medication.
-
I was in A&E for this last year. I met a wumman who asked what I was in for (I was pacing about) Told her and she volunteered that it was worse than the pain of childbirth, cos at least childbirth stops and you have an end product. 18 months on the pain has gone but I still limp.
It is awful

A talking treatment called cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) can provide lasting improvements for people with long-term low back pain, a new study shows. It may seem strange to treat back pain with talking therapy, but the researchers think that learning to cope with pain can lead to real improvements. For example, if you learn to pace yourself and become less worried about pain, it might be easier to stay active, which we know is better for back pain than resting.

Anyway on the subject of bad backs I had one start suddenly on Friday evening, it got worserer and worserer until the pain was so bad I thought "This could be a heart attack".
Mrs thought so too "You look dreadful" she said and dialled 999
The nice doctors let me out again yesterday evening.
It wasn't a heart attack ~ they say it was a muscle spasm but the adrenalin caused by the pain had made the heart speed up and that in turn caused some problems with the rhythm of the heart bad enough for my implanted device to consider shocking me (fortunately it didn't).
Soooooooooo I was right, the Docs said, to call an ambulance.
It was fvcking agony!
Glad you all missed me!!!!!!

We thought you were still sleeping eeek:
