Title: Wogan retires
Post by: Snoopy on September 08, 2009, 12:12:56 PM
So Terry Wobegone is to retire at the year end and will be replaced of a weekday morn by the Ginger Whinger Chris Evans.

What think we?

Never been a big fan of Mr Wogan...but even less of a supporter of Mr Evans.

However the contrast of style , voice and content will no doubt be quite a massive leap for the regualr listeners of this programme.  noooo:

I am sure they will increase their 'figures' for a little while as new listeners tune in  for the novelty but it won't be sustainable

Never listened to Wogan. Or Evans come to that.

When I'm on the school run I have Heart on in the car with Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott.

Indeed he is ~ so at least we may get someone more "listenable to" on the drive time show.

Looks like it's Radio Four here then.

Can't get Heart or any of those better "Local" or Commercial stations on the bedside wireless. DAB doesn't werk here either ~ summat to do with the mountains. In the car I can get Radio Manchester and something in Erse, can't understand either of them. Can't even get Radio Five  and have to use either the internet or the TV to get Five, Heart, Jazz and most other stations.

Like Marilyn Munroe eh? Just a dab of Chanel No. 5 behind each ear and a winning smile. I sort of guessed that but thought I best err on the side of caution.

But even when working from home I wouldn't have the radio on or tv etc as my work mobile acts as a landline and mobile. Therefore people ringing me would expect me to be in the office.

Of course the mute button on the TV comes in useful just before you are answering a call and when you are catching up with all your recorded programs  whistle:

So who listened to the last "Wake up to Wogan" this morning? ~ I did and it was up to his usual standard. 7.5 million regular listeners can't be wrong.
