Title: King Kong
Post by: Uncle Mort on August 17, 2009, 01:02:12 PM
I saw Peter Jackson's 2005 version of King Kong on ITV at the weekend. Bloody great! Much, much better than the lame 1976 version and up there with the original 1933 movie.

Worth seeing.

Is that the one with the big gorilla?

One of the ones with a big gorilla yes.

It also has dinosaurs, giant insects, spiders and bats.

But it also captures the 'feel' of the 'thirties well.

There were a lot of dinosaurs with long necks improbably falling down a slope. They were all mixed up with lots of humans who did not get crushed or damaged in anyway (apart from strategic cuts to masculine foreheads and carefully placed ripped blouses on the females). Oh and some arse was hauled down an incline by his leg by a raptor of some sort but since he was (a) ugl;y and (b) screamed a lot I assume he wasn't the hero.

I have to say it looked all very improbable to me and would have gone off whether SWWLTBO had come into the room or not.

That was the dinosaur pile up at the end of the stampede.  Improbable? of course. Great fun? yes.
