We too have been buying clothing for the Boys. Trouble is they will grow out of it inside of three months.
Of course their skool uniform is whatever they happen to find on the floor in their bedrooms. We don't do "formal" any more. whistle:

Obvious really but I have been forking out for three uniforms for some years now. angel1

And you should see the list of demands for clothing and stuff the THW has drawn up as "ESSENTIAL" for her first term at College cussing:
Fortunately it looks as if she may have a "summer job" that will extend into November (evenings & weekends only in term time)

Point taken young Wench but unfortunately schools all have tie-up with local suppliers and the "correct uniform" including various items of PE and sports equipment have to be bought from these shops. Nulabour propaganda about "cheap school uniforms" only seems to apply in and around the London Boroughs. White Polo Shirts x 5 cost £15 in Asda to fit the THW. Those that the school insist on and send children home for not wearing cannot be bought in Asda as they have to come from one of two suppliers with the school badge embroidered into them. They cost £15 each. The sweat shirt with same embroidered logo to fit same child which rules say must be worn over the top of the polo shirt at all times, unless the school say it is hot enough to warrant removal or unless they wish to check (at least once a week) that the "correct" polo shirt is being worn cost £23.95.
Yes it is a f*cking rip-off and NO not even you would buck the system because even you would not have your child singled out and made mock of as "The Pauper" whose parents kicked up and bought the Asda version. (Strangely and I have bought this to the attention of our Nulabour MP who wouldn't you guess is an ex-school teacher the owner of the local school uniform emporium is also a school governor and they change the uniform every three to four years ~ we can all see it's a con but nobody will do anything about it unless you count it as yet another reason for taking the boys out of school and home educating them ~ the money saved can be spent on their education instead.)
The School Nick refers to and to which The Boy has gained entrance costs about £500 to kit out a child, with all the school has on its list, from its approved suppliers. My three went to local "bog standard" schools and it cost me £250 per child per year on average and that is before you realise that a growing boy can outgrow 4 pairs of shoes a year and they cost around £30 a pair. Take in to account what they will have lost (read had stolen from them) and the bill is huge.
To all the foregoing you have to add peer pressure to wear certain styles of trouser from certain shops (Asda Grey trousers not in last year ~ every girl in the High School bought trousers from Next ~ hell of a price difference)

We were given a choice between a Gent's outfitters (posh sort), John Lewis or Birkenhead Market.
Guess where we went eveilgrin:
Stuff is half the price at the market, like

Only lasts half as long like.

A Nick quote "Birkenhead is a shithole"
