Because the machinery so ably cobbled together by your good self and a lot of evostick demands that you give of your password from time to time. It shut me out completely the other day until I put in my password. Now it asks for it every third or fourth attempt at entry ~ on the other occasions it simply supplies a row of dots for me to accept. Sometimes the dots are "not recognised" and other times they are. I don't make a scene, I simply re-enter the password and move on.

Anyway what does it matter ~ She (barmisspah?) thought she needed it and could not remember what it was. I did what anyone else would do and gave her a temporary password to enable her to get in and out and change the temp to a permanent and memorable one when she wishes.

If you save a piccy to your PC you can upload it as normal. Same with Avatars as barmisspah? was trying to do.
Otherwise you are posting a link to the picture that is hosted elsewhere on the ineternet. It works for me.
I don't quite understand what BM is on about;
Demo:
Piccy of my Great Aunt, scanned from the original, save on my desktop and now posted here.

What Barman is on about is this....

If you remember, a short while ago this site was hacked and a virus inserted.

We discovered that the culprit had uploaded an avatart with code attached which compromised the security of the board.

After re-installing the entire board and database we made a decision that no avatarts could be uploaded by users. They have to be hosted elsewhere like Photobucket for instance.

It doesn't however affect the 'uploading' of images as they are also hosted elsewhere.

Capishe?

Your avatart is actually hosted on my Photobucket account... check your profile.

We no longer allow uploading of images to our server... both the pictures that are included in threads and the avatarts are hosted elsewhere and simply linked to the relevant page. Simples.

If you remember, when we had problems with the pub I spent several hours uploading all the avatarts to my Photobucket account which is why yours is there... I also managed to get Grumpmeister's puss to drum his paws at the same time.  lol:

So if you are keeping them safe for us, like, how do we get them back like, out of your bucket like? I don't need that one now, it's my winter avatart

You kept it  redface:

I hasten to add it was a joke, done when everyone was being silly and changing their avartars.  I changed it very quickly back...but obviously not quickly enough  noooo:

If you save a piccy to your PC you can upload it as normal. Same with Avatars as barmisspah? was trying to do.
Otherwise you are posting a link to the picture that is hosted elsewhere on the ineternet. It works for me.
I don't quite understand what BM is on about;
Demo:
Piccy of my Great Aunt, scanned from the original, save on my desktop and now posted here.

Are you sure? She doesn't look a bit like you!

To be honest I have never done it any other way. Avatar is stored on my Desk Top. But then I don't keep trying to change it like some.

As for all this smiting ~ frankly it is not working well at all is it?

They have to be hosted elsewhere like Photobucket for instance.

It doesn't however affect the 'uploading' of images as they are also hosted elsewhere.

I don't see the difference apart from the use of the word "Photobucket"
Your avatart is actually hosted on my Photobucket account... check your profile.

We no longer allow uploading of images to our server... both the pictures that are included in threads and the avatarts are hosted elsewhere and simply linked to the relevant page. Simples.

If you remember, when we had problems with the pub I spent several hours uploading all the avatarts to my Photobucket account which is why yours is there... I also managed to get Grumpmeister's puss to drum his paws at the same time.  lol:

So can I PM you a couple of piccies to put on your photobucket, which I can then attempt to upload it onto the site ?
