Title: Forgetting passwords on documents
Post by: Miss Demeanour on April 20, 2009, 06:57:54 PM
Ok -  so I am trying to open an Excel document that I haven't used in a few months. It is password protected as it contains confidential information. I put the password on but now I can't remember for the life of me what it was  redface: redface: redface:

Is there any way of bypassing this to open it ...I have tried Microsoft help and that just says tough shit basically..... cry:

Passwords are a nightmare. I used to only ever have one until some places insisted on a mix of upper & lower case plus digits... Now I have two. So it's either one or t'other.

You'd regress to being someone famous... everyone seems to  ;)

You could try -

http://downloadsnew.pcpro.co.uk/search/search.mis?s=pcpro&q=elcomsoft

I don't know how good this download is.

There is a fully working version on the latest PCPRO mag (DVD edition)

The download works OK, but it seems the maximum password length it can handle is 4 characters.
