Title: Google "Street View"
Post by: The Moan Ranger on March 19, 2009, 01:39:07 PM
Fantastic!  But, oddly my brother's car number plate isn't blurred out like all the others.

Mr Wench has gone in today to talk about it. The kids faces are blurred out but the field is right next to a pavement/road with chainlink fencing. If you know about it, well you know but is it really something they should be advertising?

I shouldn't think the average peado would have any problems finding his local school would he...?

It pictures the poor sods outside the building I work in having their quiet smoke. Including two I can recognise despite the blurring.

And I found my previous house. Now with porch and a tree in the front (just a sapling when I lived there.)

Perfectly simple error on my part, you see ambiguity is an interesting feature of the language and when you said....

Oh, forget it

Oh, forget it

The ambiguity occurred because I omitted either 'I' or 'it'. However, having referred to a tree just before using the word sapling a little common sense would...   Oh, now I see.  ;)

You Google for it ~ however they have only done a few "major" cities in the UK. Better coverage of places in the States and on the Continent but then there would be. ::)

Go into Google Maps and type in something like "Old Broad Street, London".  When the aerial picture comes up, there will also be a "Street View" option, or you can drag the little yellow "peg-man" to your desired location. You can then rotate, zoom-in, move down the road etc.

The Nat West tower looks a bit wobbly if you look upwards!

Just open your mouth, waggle your tongue and make grunting noises.

A bit like Snoopy does when you are pulling a goat from the pool.

Not quite the success I'd imagined they thought it was going to be  - but surely they must have come across these problems when this has been done in other cities ?????

Mine are fine thank you, if purely vestigial these days.

As for the grammatical construction of my original, caring question, I maintain that 'plums' in this context is a singular plurality.  whistle:

I see it's been extended. I was there when the van came round and told my neighbour (he with all the classic bikes) so he went out to confront them about "invasion of privacy"

There's a cracking picture of him now!

Streetview is creepy.  What is the purpose of it?  My son is happy though, having found our house with his car on the drive, he then went to his girlfriend's and his car is on their drive too!

Perhaps she is seeing someone else but the sly old girl chose another boyfriend with the same car so as to not raise suspicions when she is out with him like or something...?  rubschin:
