 surrender:

I have heard of Firefox and Chrome but not Opera and Safari.

I assume they are all different browsing programs, each with their loyal band of nerdy followers who poke fun at the others and all universally despise Internet Explorer?

So who do you have to hate?

I don't hate anyone or anything. Hate is far too strong an emotion for general use.

Point taken.

So for what non-general use are you saving up this Doomsday emotion?

For those of you who use Firefox, I recommend upgrading to version 3.5. It is significantly faster!  cloud9:

I have and TBH, much as I hate to disagree with you, my PC is significantly slower since. Maybe other coincidental issues are in play.

IE is also slower these past couple of days ~ ever since some automatic updates from Windoze in fact. rubschin:

I would be tempted to go and see what updates have gone in recently, remove them and then see.

My niece lives in Switzerland and her partner is Swiss (as is her ex husband, their two children have dual nationality).
She tells me that the Swiss are very sensitive about cuckoo clocks claiming that they are an Austrian invention.

So taking that and your comment I would agree that whilst the PC may now be running like a Swiss Watch the operator is deffo "Cuckoo" whacky115

My main home machine running Vista is cuckoo!

As I have mentioned before it sometimes run very slowly. After I removed Nortons (I spit on Symantic!) it behaved much better. But the last weekend it slowed down again. I have no idea why. A few reboots (which took ages) it picked up speed again. Banghead

Currently running like a Swiss watch.

Miss D has the nub of it. Yes I removed an update (so called security patch) and instantly the machine is running better.
I shall next remove the update to Works 8 ~ No idea why it should have installed that or even how since I do not have Works 8  Banghead
