Title: Answers on a postcard
Post by: Nick on January 29, 2009, 08:35:43 AM
Mrs Nick reminds me that she has booked the three of us into some sort of flamenco event in Scallypool tonight. That done, she heads off to work.

I go down to make some coffee and find a large bucket on the kitchen table with a note 'Please bring this bucket to the event this evening.'

WTF is that about?  rubschin:

Pity it's not on the 19th Feb., and then you could tell her to take it herself. ::)

To stick over your head, cus like me with this shower of moose's here, you are an embarrasment to her probably. ::)

So I am meant to sit in a flamenco event with a large bucket on my head in order to be unobtrusive?

Makes perfect sense  ::)

It's one of those non-stop dancing marathons.

If you leave the floor to have a pee you lose.

Have you considered interupting her soooooooooo important working life by ringing her, on her mobile, and asking why? Failure to gain a satisfactory answer should result in you saying firmly "No I am not travelling to Scallypool or anywhere else carrying a bucket" End of problem.
If you are spoiling for a fight you could even ask why the fvck she didn't take it with her.

It seems that the flamenco event is somehow charitable and she want s to take a collection for Chilean refugees or summat. The bucket, I checked, is a 4 gallon size. Seems optimistic to me. A tin would be better  noooo:

Does Mrs Nick have anything to do with organising the event? If so I reckon she is running a raffle or something similar that needs a large container for the draw ~ perhapw she has responsiblity for buying flowers for a "guest of honour" and wants a bucket of water to keep them fresh in.

Didn't see the above but I was at least partially right in that she is organising. Now ~ why did she not takle the bucket with her? ~ Given that she is only too aware of your ability to "forget" her instructions.

She went in on the train. Maybe carrying a 4 gallon bucket would have looked odd!

Ah but Nick has a practical use here:

"Give me a donation or I set Captain Calamity on you!"

By the end of the evening she would have raised the GDP od a South American country.  whistle:

That thought had not occurred to me. She is quite calm at present. Which is worrying. I haven't mentioned the solicitor's bill yet  scared2:
