Those of you who read these techy geek papers/websites is there any news of them being freed from O2? I thought I vaguely remembered some talk of them releasing their contract to Orange?
-
You can buy unlocked ones here which werk on any network like... whistle:

Knowing my luck if I had an unlocked one it would all go tits up. noooo:

No... I didn't even know it was Friday today... noooo:
-
I think they're still locked in. A friend of mine has one and he got it unlocked. Mind you he's on his 2nd or 3rd because the screen cracked or something eeek:
I'll be seeing him on Sunday so will ask.
-
Unsubstantiated reports state that the BlackBerry Storm is a better bit of kit all-round. And you can get those on Orange.
-
I may go and play with that at the weekend. I just really like the apps that are available for the iphone.
-
Can it cook?
-
If you buy the iphone you are basically buying the brand. Apart from a well designed GUI the handset itself is at best average. If you want a decent phone wait a couple of months and pick up an N97, Nokia's iphone killer.
-
But I like it!!!!! I like the interface, I like the shape, I like the apps you can download. I am well aware that I am buying into the brand but that is what I want!
-

There's logic in there somewhere ~ buggered if I can see it but I know it exists.
-
"I want" trumps "Logic"... whistle:
-
The main reason for wanting it is is for the apps (applications?) that you can download. My twitter, to do lists, facebook, diary, organiser, blog and 100 and 1 other things I do online are handled really really easily from the iphone. Much more so than any other mobile device. So it is basically that or an itouch. Blackberry and Nokia just don't seem to have the same software back up or people making these addons that would make my life easier. So there is logic besides I want one. Although I do. Were it not for the logic though I would accept that I would be better off with a blackberry or an N97.
-
I have a mobile phone so that I can speak to people
I have a camera so that I can take pictures
I have a diary so that I can write in any appointments
I have a PC so that I can access the internet
I neither want nor need anything else
I know I am old fashioned but I also know I am old.
-
Note I don't want it for the camera! lol:
It's basically because so much of my life exists online now. It would just be easier.
-

That is sooooooooooo sad ~ and at your age too. At least I have the excuse that I can't get out much.
-
Not necessarily, I interact with my real life friends online too. Trouble is most of us are all over the place and fairly busy so this is the way we all keep up with each other now. Admitedly though probably 70% of my online time is spent catching up with online people or self promotion of one kind or another.

Twitter, facebook, myspace, diary, organiser, blogging and countless other applications are available for the Nokia N series. Plus the N97 will have both a touch screen and a full keyboard, something that the iphone is lacking.
-
Where can I find the applications for the N series? Just in case my research hasn't been as full as it might have been. whistle:

Even I can find that ~ in pictures to make it easy like.

Barack Obama uses a BlackBerry...and he it to be the leader of the Free World, apparently...
-
Not only does he use one he says he will, contrary to all the rules about every Presidential utterance having to be recorded, continue to use it whilst he is in office. There is apparently some "Tut-Tutting" in the US about this but it is fairly muted so I suspect that the b@stards will be "listening into" him anyway.

Interesting good or interesting bad. I was considering one of those are a replacement for my PDA. At the moment its a toss up between one of those or an XDA EXEC.
As expected, now that the basics are done (i.e. importing all her numbers from the previous phone, learning how to lock the bastard thing and adding cutey photos to contacts (and ring tones)) the gorgeousness that is Mrs TMR (to be) is now trying to compare it unfavourably with the BlackBerry.
It's a big unit though. Last night I had to tie myself down to stop being dragged into a geo-stationary orbit around it. I may have to sleep in the old Lexus tonight, as I doubt it can drag 2 tons through the window.

Its a trade off, HTC rigs are larger then they would normaly be but they can take a fair amount of punishment before dying.

My N95 has a case so it isnt too scratched by the time I upgrade so it can go on Ebay. My XDA fits nicely into a shirt pocket so if the N99 is about the same size then it wont be a problem.

Innuendo is where you can stick these silly phones-that-do-everything.
I have no time for them and I bet like most modern Digital wonders, the battery will last for an hour at best.

The first worm to infect the Apple iPhone has been discovered spreading "in the wild" in Australia.
The self-propagating program changes the phone's wallpaper to a picture of 80s singer Rick Astley with the message "ikee is never going to give you up".

One of my customers is getting one.
She wants to use it off the broadband system that we supply - presumably I'll have to add a wireless router for her to connect to it? Then what will she be able to do - Skype, download apps, etc.? Shrugs:
-
Ask an iphone dealer
I would have thought that since it is a mobile phone with added things to go wrong it will work off the existing mobile networks. Can't see you being able to install a wireless router that will reach more than 50 metres or so from her home (even mobile phone networks need transmitter stations every few kilometres surely?) ......... but what do I know?
