Title: Feeling all melancholy.
Post by: GROWLER on November 21, 2008, 09:27:40 PM
I was watching the 'One Show' this evening, and I didn't realise it was 40 years since the release of 'The Beatles White Album'.
They did a little article on it and it brought all those fantastic memories flooding back from the late 60's.

Young GROWLER, the heathen, snarled that it was all rubbish.
It nearly broke my heart to hear him say that tbh, so I'm spending this evening just watching 'You Tube' cllips of The Beatles  to make me appreciate all the more what great days they really were.
They were a massive influence on me in my youth.
It's making feel incredibly sad though I have to say. sad32:

Gorra be honest ~ cos you're a mate but I preferred the Rolling Stones.
Me and my mates thought the Beatles were a bit soft ~ mind you my lil bruvver liked the Beatles ~ but he was/is three years younger see.

You, of course, also have the excuse of being scouse like.

Nowt to do with me bein' scouse tbh. I'd have loved 'em anyway.....and still do!
There were always strong feelings in the playground as to which band was the best though, I know where you're coming from there.
I deliberately hated The 'Stones, simply because 'Stones fans hated The Beatles! noooo:
It was just 'competition' and an excuse for a fight of your 'corner'.

All very childish, but of course as we grow older, judgement become a bit clearer...alledgedly. ;)

Anyway, I've been singing along and basking in classical pop music for 2 hours, with the glazed eyes of far and distant happy memories.
So strange how you can re-live and feel exactly how you felt at that time isn't it, and so beautiful that NO one can ever take that away from you.

You are right of course ~ and I am ashamed to admit that Stones fan I may be but whenever a Beatles track comes on the wireless I seem to know all the words  redface:

Young Growler will change his mind from somewhere between 14 and 18, all youngsters do. Brother Wench and I were considered very cool because we already knew all the songs when the beatle era hit our school
